A Love Letter to the Past

Fable Finds was born in 2018 when founder Eleanor Vance — a lifelong collector and former museum curator — decided to turn her passion for storied objects into a boutique unlike any other. After fifteen years cataloging artifacts for institutions across the country, Eleanor dreamed of a place where everyday people could bring home pieces that carried genuine history, not just a price tag.

Nestled in Portland's vibrant Pearl District, our shop is a sanctuary for the curious and the nostalgic. Every item on our shelves — from a Victorian-era writing desk to a delicate Art Nouveau brooch — is sourced with care, researched meticulously, and accompanied by a handwritten story card detailing its provenance.

Do you offer shipping for larger furniture items? ▾
Yes, we partner with specialized white-glove delivery services that handle antique furniture with the utmost care. Shipping costs are calculated based on item size, weight, and destination. For pieces heading to addresses within Oregon and Washington, we often arrange in-house delivery. For all other locations, we'll provide a detailed shipping quote before you commit. Every furniture piece is fully insured during transit.
How do you verify the authenticity of items? ▾
Every item at Fable Finds undergoes a multi-step authentication process. Founder Eleanor Vance draws on her fifteen years of museum curation experience to examine maker's marks, materials, construction techniques, and period-specific details. For jewelry, we work with certified gemologists. For rare books, we consult bibliographic references and, when warranted, independent appraisers. Each piece receives a certificate of authenticity and, where possible, a provenance story card.
Can I consign items through Fable Finds? ▾
We accept consignments on a selective basis. If you have vintage furniture, antique jewelry, rare books, or unusual collectibles you'd like us to consider, please email photos and a brief description to [email protected]. Our team reviews submissions weekly. If accepted, we offer competitive commission splits and handle all marketing, display, and storytelling for your piece.
Do you offer gift wrapping? ▾
Absolutely. Every purchase from Fable Finds comes with our signature gift packaging at no additional cost — we use acid-free tissue, kraft boxes tied with linen ribbon, and a wax-sealed story card. For special occasions, we're happy to include a handwritten note. Just let us know at checkout or in your online order notes.
What is your return policy? ▾
We offer a 7-day return window for most items, provided they are returned in the same condition as purchased. Due to their unique nature, certain items — such as rare books with specific condition grades, and intimate wearable jewelry — may be final sale. This will be clearly noted at the time of purchase. Returns must be accompanied by the original receipt and all provenance materials. Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5 business days.
